Can dogs eat beetroot?
Plain cooked beetroot is safe in small amounts. It is relatively high in oxalate and sugar, and pickled beetroot is far too salty and acidic.
Why
Beetroot contains oxalate, which is worth limiting in dogs prone to calcium oxalate stones. It also turns urine and stools red, which alarms owners into thinking they are seeing blood.
How to prepare it
Cooked, plain, no vinegar or salt, cut small.
Never in this form
