Can dogs eat aubergine and artichoke?

Cooked aubergine and artichoke hearts are safe for most dogs in small amounts, though aubergine is a nightshade and can cause a reaction in some.

Why

Aubergine contains solanine, though far less than green potato. Dogs with arthritis or kidney problems are sometimes advised to avoid nightshades. Artichoke leaves and choke are tough and are an obstruction risk.

How to prepare it

Cooked plain, no oil or seasoning. For artichoke, hearts only.
