Can dogs eat honey?
A small amount of honey is safe for most adult dogs. Avoid it in puppies under one year and in diabetic dogs.
Why
Raw honey can contain Clostridium botulinum spores. Adult dogs handle these without trouble; very young puppies and immunocompromised dogs may not. It is also almost pure sugar.
How to prepare it
Half a teaspoon or less for a medium dog, occasionally.
