Can dogs eat milk and cream?
Small amounts of milk are not dangerous, but most adult dogs are lactose intolerant and will get an upset stomach.
Signs to watch for
- diarrhoea
- wind
- abdominal discomfort
- vomiting
Why
Lactase activity falls sharply after weaning, so undigested lactose ferments in the large intestine and draws in water.
How to prepare it
Better skipped. If given, a tablespoon or less.
Portion
Whole milk is about 61 kcal per 100 ml.
Also check for
- xylitol in some plant milks
- chocolate
- added sugar
