Can dogs eat plain rice?
Plain boiled rice is safe and is the usual base for a bland diet when a dog has an upset stomach.
How to prepare it
Boiled in water, no salt, no butter, no stock. White rice is gentler than brown when the gut is irritated, because it is lower in fibre.
Portion
About 130 kcal per 100 g cooked. As a bland diet it is usually combined with plain chicken, but a bland diet is not complete nutrition and is not meant to be fed for more than a few days without veterinary advice.
