Can dogs eat tuna?
Small amounts of plain tinned tuna in water are fine occasionally. Tuna is a large predatory fish and accumulates mercury, so it should not be a regular food.
Why
Methylmercury accumulates up the food chain and tuna sits near the top. Occasional small servings are not a concern; regular feeding over months could be.
How to prepare it
Tinned in spring water, drained, no salt, no oil, no brine.
Never in this form
Tuna in brine or oil. Regular daily feeding.
Portion
About 116 kcal per 100 g in water.
